Manama: On Wednesday, a Kuwaiti neurosurgeon succeeded, in planting a battery in the spine of a young patient suffering from Cerebral Palsy (CP).
The operation was conducted on a five year-old patient, who suffered from chronic muscle tension caused by Cerebral Palsy (CP),Dr Hassan Khaja, a neurosurgeon at Bin Sina Hospital told .
Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported: Not only will it relieve her pain, it will also prevent complications such as respiratory problems and heart failure,
Such operations are usually conducted in world renowned medical institutions and cost around KD30, 000 (Dh383, 224), Dr Khaja said. However, Kuwait’s leaders and health ministry are keen to provide low-cost procedures for patient of Cerebral Palsy (CP) disorders.
KUNA said: The successful percentage of neurosurgical operations in Kuwait, carried out by Kuwaiti neurosurgeons, is similar to the global rate.
