The fate of the flouter of rules remains undecided.
Manal Al-Sharif was given a further ten day’s detention during which authorities will decide whether to proceed with the prosecution or not. The divorcee, who worked as an IT expert for Aramco, also has a son who is currently ill. She is afraid that due to her imprisonment the law courts will grant custody of her son to her former husband.
Manal was caught driving on the roads of Al-Khobar. Females are banned from driving in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, her Facebook site shows she is guilty of inciting many others to break the rules in the kingdom.
