Now a days we see some of our brothers and sisters entering chat rooms, media sites, or with friend in groups, who are eager to engage in da’wah. In those places heretics revile the Sahaabah and label them as kaafirs, and they insult the Muslims in immoral speech, and they end up fighting and using bad language.
It is not right to behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner in arguments. Give your point of view in good manners that other person will not feel bad, or be offended.
We were sitting with ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr who was narrating to us (Hadith): He said, “Allah’s Apostle(pbuh) was neither a Fahish nor a Mutafahhish, and he used to say, ‘The best among you are the best in character (having good manners).” (Volume 8, Book 73, Number 61: Sahih bukhari)
Narrated ‘Abdullah(R.A): Allah’s Apostle(pbuh) said, “Abusing a Muslim is Fusuq (i.e., an evil-doing), and killing him is Kufr (disbelief).” (Volume 8, Book 73, Number 70: Sahih bukhari)
Narrated Abu Dhar(R.A): That he heard the Prophet (pbuh) saying, “If somebody accuses another of Fusuq (by calling him ‘Fasiq’ i.e. a wicked person) or accuses him of Kufr, such an accusation will revert to him (i.e. the accuser) if his companion (the accused) is innocent.” (Volume 8, Book 73, Number 71: Sahih bukhari)
Narrated Anas(R.A): Allah’s Apostle(pbuh) was neither a Fahish (one who had a bad tongue) nor a Sabbaba (one who abuses others) and he used to say while admonishing somebody, “What is wrong with him? May dust be on his forehead!”( Volume 8, Book 73, Number 72: Sahih bukhari)
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr(R.A):
The Prophet said, “Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner.” Volume 3, Book 43, Number 639: Sahih Bukhari)
“Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depth (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them”[al-Nisaa’ 4:145]
People who don’t have a strong knowledge of the rulings and laws of Islam should not involve in such arguments and not wasting it on stubborn arguers.
Narrated ‘Aisha (R.A): The Prophet said, “The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome person.” (Volume 3, Book 43, Number 637: Sahih Bukhari)
It is very important to choose the right way to call people to Islam. Calling people to Allaah needs knowledge on the part of the caller, and it needs wisdom so that he will handle matters appropriately. Be open-minded, easy going and close to the truth, don’t be stubborn, be gentle and kind with others.
Allaah says in Quran:
“Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Revelation and the Qur’aan) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better”[al-Nahl 16:125]
“And argue not with the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), unless it be in (a way) that is better (with good words and in good manner, inviting them to Islamic Monotheism with His Verses), except with such of them as do wrong”[al-‘Ankaboot 29:46]
Narrated An-Nu’man bin Bashir(R.A):
Allah’s Apostle(pbuh) said, “You see the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body, so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it.” Volume 8, Book 73, Number 40: Sahih bukhari)
Narrated Anas bin Malik(R.A): The Prophet (pbuh) was not one who would abuse (others) or say obscene words, or curse (others), (Volume 8, Book 73, Number 58: Sahih bukhari)
Sometimes in arguments people get angry and lose there self-control and behave very disrespectfully with others, it is very important to controlling your impulses and being well-mannered. May Allah Guide us all, ameen.
Allah knows the best.
