Uprising in Morocco

Protesters beaten by police.

Unrest in Morocco has led to the police being called into action by concerned authorities. Riots in the capital city of Rabat and Casablanca have been dispersed by policemen carrying batons and shields. Some of the acts of the police were very savage and brutal. An example is of a 30 year old bearded man being repeatedly beaten on the head and body till he was bleeding profusely.

“Protest is a legal right. Down with despotism” shouted the throngs of people out on the streets. The crowd wanted greater democracy and economic benefits for the poor. Morocco has been ruled by a monarchy since the 17th century. The ruling powers have agreed to some of the demands in response to the eruptions of violence.

This is only sane since this could be another Egypt where the government was toppled within two months of the uprising.
