Egypt opens Gaza Strip for Palestine.
Egypt gave free access to the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians. Since the year 2007 Egypt had occupied the area but as of now it has opened it on a permanent basis. This has provided relief to the 1.5 million Palestinians who are arriving in hordes to cross the border. Israel has been on red alert owing to fears that these people will target Jewish settlements.
Ever since Hosni Mubarak’s government was ousted from power, the new Egyptian leadership has patched relations with the Palestinians. One of the token favors it has shown the oppressed Palestinians is the opening of the Gaza Strip. Let’s hope Arab unity and the spirit of aiding one’s Muslim brethren in their time of need remains paramount in the current predicament.
